Fiji Pre Departure Briefing

Late last year we conducted 19 Pre Departure Briefings around Australia to prepare this year’s volunteers for their time away. The briefings were held in Adelaide, Brisbane, Darwin, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney and provided a great opportunity for volunteers and their family members from each area to meet each other and hear more about what lays ahead.

The sessions included a combination of country specific and general information to prepare volunteers for the wide variety of new experiences ahead at their placements and within their new communities, including such topics as packing tips, money and health, advice on communication and keeping in touch with home, dealing with common problems, and the support Lattitude provides for volunteers at placement as well as family members back home.

With the volunteers prepped and ready, they begin departing this month. We have already said goodbye to groups of volunteers heading to the UK and Malawi and we look forward to many more departures in the coming weeks. Best wishes to all our volunteers as they settle in and begin their placements!
